Our Story
Serving the Northwest Since 1992
Eric Snell founded Snell Crane Service in Olympia in 1992. Over three decades, the company has grown from a local crane service into a full-service lifting, rigging and heavy hauling provider for contractors, industry and public agencies across Washington and Oregon.
Today our fleet includes 17 cranes ranging from an 8.5-ton carry deck to a 330-ton Liebherr crawler, a heavy haul fleet led by a 90-ton, 12-axle lowboy, and a 4.5-acre secured yard. Our sister company, DOC Hoist, provides material hoists for multi-story construction.
Eric built the company on dependable service and long-term relationships. The Snell family and the team he developed continue that work today, under the same standard printed on every truck: Setting Higher Standards.
How We Work
A Single Point of Accountability
Most projects require more than a crane. We plan and manage the lift, rigging, transport and storage as one coordinated scope, with our project managers responsible from start to finish.
- Site evaluationOur project managers review site access, ground conditions and overhead hazards before work is scheduled.
- Lift planningWe select the right crane for the pick and verify the load chart against your load weight and radius.
- Permits and logisticsWe secure street-use and oversize permits and coordinate traffic control.
- ExecutionCertified operators and riggers carry out the plan, on day or night schedules, through final placement.

Our headquarters occupies 4.5 secured acres in west Olympia. The facility houses fleet maintenance and staging, along with secure storage for customer equipment awaiting delivery to site.
